I know I already posted a little about this on insta (@paristews), but I've been dying to share the whole story! Pierce and I were on our way to a concert I was not psyched to be going to... To be honest I was completely bummed about our weekend and was not being a very good sport about it. Pierce had our whole weekend booked. I did make plans with friends Saturday night I was excited about, but other than that we were working and catching up with old mission friends of his that I'd never heard of... Or so he had told me.
We were on the FrontRunner on our way to SLC, and the lighting was amazing so we snapped some pictures. I was still giving Pierce grief about planning our whole weekend when what I really wanted was to be home watching my brother run at the state cross country meet. He knew I was bummed and so he had made a "good luck" package for Easton from us. We have a friend that travels for work between Logan and Denver all the time, and he happened to be going to Denver this weekend. So "on our way" to the concert we were going to stop by the airport and give him this package to take to my brother. We get all the way into the airport, are sitting waiting for him to get there, and I am still TOTALLY OBLIVIOUS that anything is off. Then Pierce FaceTimed my mom while we are waiting, and we all say hi then Pierce says "should I tell her or should you?" And then it finally hit me. Pierce told me we were getting on a plane to Colorado right then. I cried I was so happy and I cried because I felt bad that I had given him such a hard time when he was really just being so sweet. But don't worry his feelings were never hurt haha, he agreed he would've deserved it and he thought the whole thing was hilarious. ;)
SO basically you just learned two things about me. 1: I believe anything that comes out of Pierce's mouth. & 2: I am THE MOST directionally confused person ever. That concert venue we've been to several times is nowhere near the airport.
Anyway, Pierce and my mom have had this trip planned since September. I am shocked they kept it a secret for long but it was the best early birthday present of all time.
My only brother, Easton, ran so incredibly in his state meet! He was the fastest 8th grader in the state by 13 seconds! A 7th grader got the win by one second. It was so fun to watch, I'm 10000% sure that everyone around us thought we were insane. We may be. He gave it everything and we were so proud. Literally immediately after he caught his breath he stood up and said, "I want to go meet that kid!" I went with him to find him and he gave him such a genuine congratulations. I can't get over how amazing he is, he barely lost and instead of being angry his first reaction was to go meet him. S-T-U-D. Definitely worth coming home for.
This weekend was the best surprise. I kind of can't believe that it isn't even my birthday yet... Haha I feel like it should be over. But I'm not complaining about this whole birth week thing!
